How long does this treatment last?
PMMA is a permanent filler. However, no part of the body stays the same 10 years later. Generally, this lasts 10 years or more. Similar to the duration of surgical BBL.

I’ve heard BBL surgery is among the highest risk ones. Does this carry similar risks?
No, because this is a simple skin treatment, it carries minimal risks. This filler has been used for decades, and is well known. We perform this in sterile fashion, using a cannula just under the skin so we do not risk involving arteries or large vessels. In contrast, BBL surgery carries risks of infection, fatal fat embolism, infection, deformity and other surgical dangers.

What are the possible complications of this procedure?
When utilizing filler, the main risk is asymmetry. It is possible to get a few bumps of heavier collagen build up. This procedure has very low rates of this, and so far none. This is because the area is constantly being moved and pressure placed on it, thereby keeping the filler evenly spread. Bumps can be resolved with steroid injection and any uneven aspects can be simply touched up with additional filler.

Are there any other factors that can affect the outcome?
Weight gain or loss could impact this procedure. It is recommended to be at a stable weight. Substantial weight loss or weight gain can alter the tissues around the treated areas, possibly creating asymmetry that would resolve once the previous weight was achieved.
